TOPIC (ON DECK) FOR NEXT L&L?
1 ) Compassion is the Thief of Joy – The Silent Majority
2 ) Love Languages and Conflict-Avoidant Strategies
(#1) Compassion is the Thief of Joy – The Silent Majority:
“Compassion is the thief of joy” – Theodore Roosevelt.
I found these quotes (see below) while reading the comments from @thecolormustard’s feed and @amyflorence recent podcast post. 🥰 . I do invite you all to check out @astitchtowear “The Silent Majority” investigation in their IG story highlights.
It is not categorically true, you can use the comparisons to boost ego, happiness and confidence to push an idea forward. Scott Wilhite article ” Roosevelt was Wrong, Comparison is not the Thief of Joy ” (2017) explores this idea that: 1) Use the skill to deliberate comparison to ignite happiness. 2) Use this skill of deliberate comparison to restore your humanity. Wilhite shared some interesting examples and perspectives. It’s a way to open the dialogue and to not just stand quiet, because it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable. Do we need to stand back or step up, to the things (micro/macro level) to drive our motives? If compassion is the thief of joy, would we use it for prevention or as a resolution?
(#2) Love Languages and Conflict-Avoidant Strategies:
Revisiting Asia’s top grossing skin care brand SK-II’s #changedestiny campaign, YouTube suggests one of my old subs recommended this one, touched by message, had a good ugly cry and needed to share.
We are more worthwhile than challenging our own insecurities. Gary Chapman best selling book : 5 Love Languages (TAKE QUIZ!) , plays a role to understanding the 5 Styles of Conflict, by understanding our Love Languages opens new avenues for communication. Yet, Conflict-Avoidant behavior occur naturally if one fails to take care of yourself outside and in. Our experiences and goals will be constantly evolving just like ourselves. It’s not a race, so why feel left behind trying to catch up? Just be real with yourself, you do you they say. However that may be in the end, it all comes down to accepting & loving yourself right?
