While this group is not intended to be exclusively kink-focused, it is kink-friendly. We hope people can feel open to discuss their experiences and thoughts on BDSM as we engage in anti-racist learning as a community.
Though we are holding this meeting online, many of us kink practitioners are living in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal), located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather. Tiohtià:ke/Montréal is known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is also home to a diverse population of Indigenous and settler peoples. By acknowledging where Pevers/cité is organized and where each of us as participants are located, we remind ourselves to learn and fulfill our responsibilities as guests here. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montreal community.
Accessibility: Contact Sal at firstname.lastname@example.org for questions and concerns, and accessibility needs leading up to the event.
While the Workbook is available in English, and thus this event will be hosted in English, we are able to offer the working group in French with enough interest.
If you would like to attend but foresee time as a barrier, please contact Sal to make arrangements.
Susie and Sal: We are two kinky queer white/white-passing cis women living in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. We are part of Against the Wall, an LGBTQ+ play party collective. On a personal level we come with questions about ways racism shows up in the public and private BDSM spaces that we move through.
We are holding this meeting with kinksters to give opportunity to openly scrutinize our tools and techniques of play in the scene largely made up of white-passing people. We see a need for a focussed group to move towards dismantling white supremacy in BDSM.
